Persona 2 Innocent Sin - Storyboards
Voici une traduction des pages consacrées aux archives de développement, et plus précisément du storyboard de l'introduction de Persona 2 Innocent Sin pour son remake PSP.
Here is a translation of developement's archives. This is the storyboard of the PSP Remake version of Persona 2 : Innocent Sin.
PAGES 1/2
English: “Silence is the mouvement. Shadow and light. Purity and dirt. Consciousness and unconsciousness. Persona 2 Innocent Sin deals with a lot of meanings. Creating this new opening for the game, we also delved into the « recto » of the original version on PS1, and captured a “verso” interpretation of it* (*personal note: there is an idea of diptych, like the two faces of a same coin). How two human beings face truths in this world and their “self” that lies deep inside them? Looking into Tatsuya’s eyes, we see the “self” of his Persona. The reversal of the seconds’ hand at the beginning comes from the staff’s idea. It calls Tatsuya’s bad memories but also the player’s.”
PAGES 3/4
English : “Fast sequences where we can see Persona moving. In this new opening, there is a scene with Yukino. Ekichi is pale like he was a demon in the crowd *laughs*. That’s why we produced these sequences, in order to represent Persona in this space.”
PAGES 5/6
English: “The rabbit mascot represent the turmoil in which Maya is trapped. It burns until it fades away, and this painful “reality” mixes up with the young lady. Then the temple Alaya’s incident happens, and the buried chains of memory break the place. The music changes in a dramatic way and gives a sudden bad omen.”
PAGES 7/8
English : “This is a very Japanese style sequence. Actually, this was produced by a French studio. People from foreign country gave us a very typical Japanese representation. We expect our Persona to show themselves in a moment where our character feel they don’t belong in this place.”
PAGES 9/10
English : “The main goal for this new opening was to stay faithful to the Persona’s designs without make them appear in CGI. The scene with big moving and resounding partitions is the imagery of Tatsuya who go under the deepest of his conscience. This was also produced by French people, Persona’s designs as well.”
PAGES 11/12
English : “JOKER’s posture is based on his different involvement in the story, but we weren’t satisfied with his representation, so we gave him is current form. His clown design symbolizes his disdain and ridiculousness of people inside them, all these feeling that turn against him. The truth goes away at the same time it goes nearer. The four characters look towards the sky, and wish for a hope. This new opening gives unanswered questions, for the characters and for us, the player. A scene that wasn’t kept in the production for length reasons was supposed to show all of the Persona at the same time.”
